Hanshi Waizhuan (Outer Commentary to the Book of Songs by Master Han) recorded: During a hunting trip, the King of Qi encountered a mantis standing in the road, its forelegs raised in defiance against the approaching carriage. Surprised, the King of Qi commanded the carriage to stop and asked the driver: What kind of insect is this?" The driver replied, "This is a praying mantis, a bug that excels at standing its ground and being assertive when faced with a challenge, no matter the adversary." The King sighed and remarked, "If that were a man, he would undoubtedly be the most courageous warrior on earth!" Following this, the King instructed his carriages to turn around and depart, leaving the mantis standing there with a martial stance. Warriors around the country were moved by the story and decided to join his ranks, pledging their loyalty to him. The praying mantis stands firm in the face of challenges and perseveres against all odds, embodying resilience, bravery, and greatness.
